There were a bunch here in AZ as well but the big one for my world was "HB 2729 personal data; processing; security standards". Basically, a mini AZ version of Europe's GDPR. I knew it was coming as CA enacted one in 2019 and a lot of other states will in the upcoming decade. So I damn well made sure I fully understood it and partnered with one of our GC to create a position paper on where it impacts us, a plan to address as well as thankfully we get a mighty big pass as there is an exclusion of scope for data regulated by HIPAA.

The biggie though impacting my job directly was the Federal CMS Interoperability and Patient Access final rule (CMS-9115-F) which has compliance mandates we are now driving to meet by January 2021 as well as a follow-up for January 2022. I'm part of a SWAT team defining our pathway and the the technology we'll utilize to delivery.
