Just called into my local dealer to have a look at their 8. Can't say I'm that impressed. Going from a 6 to an 8 feels a bit like a step backwards. The steering wheel is horrid, the interior in general is meh, it's ok but doesn't feel like a leep forward the price tag is asking for. Surround view cameras are oddly placed, the rear is rubbish, fixed position underneath the boot along with the release switch. I'm guessing that they've assumed that with the boot motorised no one will actually use the release switch. With the 6 this was all built into the roundel and looks much neater and more fitting of its price tag.

I couldn't see the bonnet cameras to help with pulling out a junction, the sales rep didn't know if it has them. For me I find this incredibly useful as where I live the are tons of junctions with restricted view.

As other posters have mentioned, there is zero leg room in the rear with the driver's seat set in a comfortable driving position. I was hoping I could get a coupe rather than a gc next with the kids being a bit older but no chance based on what I saw.

Seats were nice though, and I like the way the radar for adaptive cruise has a little more styling thought. I'm liking the laser lights. Still a bit disappointed with the wheels, feels like it could do with something bigger to sit the overall size. I'm on 20's on my gc and thinking 21's would look better on that.

I'll not be rushing out to lease one of these. Can't say I'm that taken with the spy shots of the 8gc either. Looks like it's trying to hard to be an a7 sportback.

Would love to know how it drives, but dealer wasn't keen to put any miles on it.
