Have you looked at Nissan Xterra? Had one before the bimmer and loved it, still kicking myself for letting it go. It had a six speed manual and the off road package. Bilstein suspension from factory, fancy off road tires, locking diffs. all the good stuff. 4.0L V6 with the six speed had plenty off power to get around.
