You also have to take into account that a State Ref visit means a modified car must remove all engine related mods (100% stock) before scheduling an inspection. I agree with this, but let's put it this way, for 99% of people the average labor cost to remove the mods is probably going to be roughly $500, (intakes, exhaust, downpipes, intercooler, maybe more if you have a blower). Compare that to the thousands of dollars that we've invested into our cars for go fast bits. The saying "gotta pay to play" now comes in. Most people are just running bolt ons. If the few hundred dollars of expense is a burden then maybe modifying cars shouldn't be a priority knowing the consequences, it's been made clear many times that you'll get f*'d for cops for excessive mods and now it seems like a reality check. I'm no different look at my previous builds.
