i think it's a tempting alternative to anyone shopping for a MX 75D without plans for roadtrips.

starting $8K less after incentives compared to the base MX 75D. nicer interior, traditional exterior. the qualities crossover buyers are looking for. not performance or 30 miles more range or fancy falcon doors or 7 seats.

audi is actually being very smart on pricing this car, they undercut the MX obviously but if you compare it to the q5 ,this car is a whopping $25K more expensive similarly equipped.

this means they are not at all allowing any cannibalism to happen intra brand. if you very specifically want an EV SUV, then they have the cheaper and still competitive product compared to the industry leader, if you are flip flopping between EV and ICE, the pricing will push you over to the ICE option. either way the brand wins.

this is also pretty evident on their proposed production volume of 50K units a year, they are positioned to sell every single one of them. wouldn't surprise me if there isn't any form of price negotiation from the dealers with buyers, if anything, i think dealers are going to mark this up by $2K until the second model year.
