People are passionate about their cars. I loved my Honda Prelude and will still defend its honor even today. Even though it may be annoying to hear, I'd say if he's a dear friend (and it sounds so), then just roll with it knowing that you (and practically everyone else in the world knows this too) have a superior machine. Besides, it's healthy and fun debate to hear the other side.
