My shorter 21 mile commute used to cost me $3.10/day in diesel if I took my pickup, or $3.75/day in super unleaded if I took the 1.8T. The i3 uses about $0.52/day.
Energy savings of 75% are common when switching from dinosaur juice to electrons. If she uses the free charger next to her office building, the cost could be zero.....
