I use aperture for photo management/organization as well as for overall raw adjustments. When I need more control on the pixel level, I just open the file up in Photoshop. Aperture manages the original file and the layered PSD if you want. Both apps go hand in hand. You could easily swap aperture for lightroom as well. They both pretty much do the same thing.

It's might be hard to justify spending $700 on photoshop, but think of it this way. Photoshop has been through more than 10 years of R&D by hundreds of developers. Your exhaust probably cost the same amount and went through less than a year of R&D with only 2-3 people. Photoshop is an investment, car mods generally aren't.
