It's still in that range of A7 & CLS. Only difference is you'll probably get a prestige A7 for the GC base price. Same for CLS. I see depreciation in the future making them all near same price point. Maybe Panamera is the closest competitor in terms of pricing.
Yeah, my CLS is mostly loaded (missing a few little options) but flies right under the 6 figure mark. A base M850i is $108k and loaded seems to be $123k. While the CLS isn't as fast and lacks the 2 extra cylinders that the bimmer has, I still don't know about whether I'd be willing to jump $25k in price for a similarly optioned M850GC, although the 840 is always an option I guess...

Luckily I still have 2 years on my lease, but I'm very interested in how the 8GC drives. I'm hoping its more impressive than the M550 that left me disappointed last time I tested it.
Thing is 840 GC built is same as CLS 53. 840 engine is so underrated you have X5 40 doing 4.7 I'd bet the 840 GC will be down around 4.4 or less same straight line perf as CLS53 but with better handling
We'll see, the jury is still out on how the 8GC handles in any form, so I'll have to wait for a test drive if one myself and online reviews to pop up soon hopefully. The CLS and E53 handle very well and feel quite agile for their size, and they're numbers are underrated as well (I've seen as low as 4.1 seconds), so the 8GC has quite the competition, plus the 53 series has the super cool electric supercharger and mild hybrid system that fills in boost down low and eliminates the need to turn off auto-stop start.
I'm still not convinced the 8GC is meant to compete with the CLS. My feeling is it's meant to compete with the AMG GT 53 with 840 GC M sport less expensive and m850 kills AMG gt 53 but at a higher price.

I configured both, M850i is 112k and built AMG 53 was 110k. Same price with the BMW being much much faster and likely better handling.
I haven't driven a M850i GC. I wasn't impressed with the dealers 125k AMG gt 53 at all. Felt it was a ripoff for that price.

M8 GC competes with the AMG GT 63 and 63s
