I look at these vehicles as a great alternative to a wagon, especially since we don't get the good ones here in the states. For those with growing families, this is a logical next step without going to something the size of a Cayenne or larger.
Before folding down the seats, the Macan should have 29 cu.ft. while the three series has about 12 cu.ft.
I would give Porsche more credit than BMW as far as off roading goes. The X line has never been off road capable as you already know.
