Yes, yes, yes, yes and ... Bill Peterson is sub-human. How a prosecutor cannot have even a moment's self-reflection about having sent an innocent man to death row (and within a hair's breadth of execution) is beyond me.
However, the voters of Pontotoc County have something to answer for here. To continually re-elect a prosecutor who routinely prosecutes to conviction innocent people is a reflection on the voters who keep him in office. Not including Ward and Fontenot there's four we're aware of, all of whom have been proven innocent by DNA, where they were convicted on false confessions, false or misleading forensic evidence, perjury, and official misconduct. Pretty f*ing outrageous.
