I'm still keen to know if this somehow invalidates any warranty though? I was toying with the idea of doing this for one of my previous cars (2008 635d and 2014 640i) but was always put off by the prospect of potentially causing myself problems down the line. I went as far as buying the interface cable but didn't pluck up the courage when it was IN warranty, and had moved on past the idea by the time they had come OUT of warranty.
