Not sure about the rod question but the 992 Turbo S (according my local dealer) has had no major issues and maintenance is pretty normal. First oil change at 10k or 1 year is free. I have had 5 of them ranging from 996 to 991.1 with no issues and no excessive maintenance needed.

The M, as you know, has its fluid maintenance covered for 3/36. I never hit the sensor for miles so I just get a free oil change every year which one can do in lieu of the sensor telling you its time. On my F90 M5 I did the run in service at 1200 and then a free oil change around 3400 miles and one more at 4600 miles. Time counts too. And no issues with the M's.

But the Porsche is a bulletproof car in itself.
