EVs aren't being built to save the planet, they're being built to save the auto industry from governmental regulations.
I think there are a lot of people who would be better served, and live a more enjoyable life, if they didn't HAVE to drive absolutely everywhere...but that's all we're getting. More increasingly boring cars to make you feel slightly less guilty about driving absolutely everywhere.
