Because it's an 8. That's is the only reason. This is a car based on the 5er but called an 8 so they can charge more and claim it's a flagship car. They found a way to charge a lot more, claim they have a flagship car while just eliminating the car it replaced (6er). The engine specs match the 5er and and it's barely bigger than the 6er it replaced. That said, this car is going to print money from corporate leases.
