OP is lucky they didn’t cancel his insurance, actually.

I was in a similar position to the OP last Sept. Long story short I had a deer run into the side of my car, despite trying my best to avoid! Basically this resulted in my car requiring a new passenger door mirror and door plus a re-spray… prior to this it had never crossed my mind to notify my insurer (also Aviva) that I had a full ceramic coating professionally applied by a reputable detailer. The bodyshop I chose to use was a “non-approved” repairer as the five options given by Aviva were pants and not imho up to the standard of repair I’d be happy with.

When talking over the repair with the bodyshop I mentioned the ceramic coating to which they confirmed they could claim for this. Fortunately the quotation including re-applying the ceramic coating was agreed by Aviva and undertaken with minimal fuss.

I wonder if Aviva have recently changed their policy on ceramic coatings or if it depends who you speak with / how the claim is processed?

Cheers Martyn
