because then you are testing kick down speed/ programming of the transmissions as well as the fact that each transmission may kick down one or more gears based on it's programme.
while indeed all 3 vehicles have different gearing ratios in their transmissions... .. they all have a 3rd gear... and magazines often test things like 30-50 and 50-70 in a particular gear, very commonly third for passing acceleration tests..
