It's just personal preference, but the 8-series' interior has gotten a lot of flak on Bimmerpost for good reason. It's too simple a design, especially compared to the car it replaces (6-series). Does it really look any more special than an X5's interior? The 7-series has had the same problem.
Whenever I sit in an S-class, whether it be coupe or sedan, there's a sense of occasion. It looks and feels more expensive than any other Merc.
Regardless, the M specific interior upgrades dress it up nicely.
