My father owned an Imperial Blue Metallic 5er and then a Carbon Black 5er. I had Black Sapphire Metallic at the same time. I’d say that Carbon Black is okay but pales in comparison to the pop and metallic nature of Imperial or Tanzanite Blue. I class Carbon Black with the darkest blues because it’s really Navy in most light. We both agree Imperial Blue or Tanzanite are better if you want blue, and BSM is better if you want real black. Consider that Carbon Black is a 2001 if not earlier paint formulation. It lacks the fancier xirallic particles, pearl effect, etc that the newer paints have.
