The *real* Orange County (in New York State) was incorporated on November 1st, 1683. The left coast's imitation was incorporated on August 1, 1889. Our county existed 206 years before yours was founded!
Orange County NY notables:
- West Point? Check.
- Benedict Arnold? Turned a traitor right here in OC.
- George Washington and the Continental Army spent an entire winter encamped here.
- Purple heart? Invented here, and we have the museum to prove it.
- Velveeta cheese? Invented here.
...and all of these things happened before your cheap knockoff county was even a thing!
More recent notables are being the home of President Trump's high school, the first American soil that the Iran hostages set foot on after their release, a new LegoLand theme park, the home of Angry Orchard, and unfortunately also being home of those TV bike-building clowns who use our county's name in their business.
What does the west coast copy have, besides Richard Nixon, DisneyLand, earthquakes, fires, and rolling blackouts?????
