This has been my experience, yes, with BMW.

Scuttlebutt/Internet lore is that on Porsche 911 there is a threshold for options, and after a certain point they affect the residual less. Which makes sense, since you really don't see a resale value in things like leather covered HVAC vents and other silliness that Porsche offers. You can nearly double the price of some cars with just ala carte options at Porsche.
