Happy to follow up on this... after two dealers said Individual customization was not doable I reached out to BMW David (thanks to a suggestion on another thread I believe). He was able to get our request for exterior color (R71) Midnight Saphire II:

Yup he's da man! It was me that suggested to contact David. I'm looking to do ED in May of next year. It would be great to do a group ED.
