Unfortunately for BMW, any performance-oriented consumer in this price range will prefer the 911 or something with more brand prestige like an Aston Martin. Additionally, BMW's poor residuals and reliability record make the M8 unattractive proposition overall.
Agree about "brand prestige". This should be one of the signals to BMW that they have diluted their brand, and they are more akin to VW. But that's what happens when you make a vehicle for every possible person on the planet - makes it hard to sell yourself as a high-end luxury brand. Toyota, Nissan and Honda figured that out decades ago and realized they had to create entirely new brands to sell their luxury vehicles. Wonder if/when BMW will do the same.
