It could but as I pointed out there are indeed differences between the 2019 and 2020 Drivers Assistance packages with the 2020s including "include Cross-traffic alert rear". Not sure if that makes a difference but it sounds like you are in the same boat as
BranoMW with a 2019 First Edition. However, the "not available in all markets" may be the distinguishing fact for BranoMW so the only way to know for sure on your 2019 is to succumb to the mega-software update.
