I've gone from full-size VR & VZ Holden Commodore station wagons to a gen4 Subaru Liberty (Legacy) station wagon to my current E82. Just last week I drove my mate's 545i for a day and it felt ENORMOUS. All of the above cars were great to drive. If it feels good, go with it.
