Here is my HR from an easy ride tonight. 5/10ths effort. No heavy breathing and just spinning the legs. If I used the formula I mentioned before and set my max heart rate at 157, most of this ride would have been in Zone 4 with some in Zone 5. At that level you don't carry on a conversation because you're too busy sucking in air. That was not the case for this ride. I could easily have a conversation. That's why it's important to set your max heart rate as accurately as possible.
