Definitely, I would love to have a R32 GTR! But if it's a newer car, I'd stick with German.

I think the only Japanese cars today that are remotely close to affordable enthusiast cars are the 86 cars, the Miata, WRX and Civic Type R but none of those have the refinement if you want to drive them every day.
ND Miatas are actually quite civilized, provided you're not over about 6'4" or need to carry a beer fridge or a bunch of lumber.

The CTR is also surprisingly civilized, if you don't ever look at it.

You're correct about the others.
