The early 90's were very much a low point for European sporty cars and the attack of cheaper, more capable Japanese cars spurred the next few rounds of each of the above (aside from the dumb 8er) to be significantly better. Hell, Ferrari even acknowledged that removing the engine for an oil change might be a little stupid.
