Seems pretty simple, if size matters most for someone, the Mavic is the answer. For someone like me, who is into photography, but not so much cinematography, the Karma gives me a complete system of sorts so that even with mediocre editing skills/software, i can make a nice looking video.
I would likely use it most for mtn biking. Sure the drone makes for nice intro and ending shots as well as shots of other riders or train parks. But the meat of the film will be taken on a very bumpy mtn bike. Modular gamble wins out by a HUGE margin in terms of finished video product.
Casey said it best, it's exciting to see where this tech is headed. GoPro, with it's "obsolete" Karma may have changed this tech segment for the better. Every bit as much as DJI with ti's Mavic.
