The wife's 2014 X5 LCI has 3.0 and outside of a bug with Android 13 it's now working flawlessly with Android 14. Those on iOS never had an issue since day 1.

I also have a Pixel 7 Pro, with UWB, but the 2024 M850 manual explicitly says "NFC" for the the key, not like the upgraded iDrive. This looks like one of the areas where the 8 series is not being updates along with other series. So you do have to walk up to the door key. Still great, but would rather leave it my pocket!
