That's a huge jump. Granted the C7 Corvette is an incredible car but the prices of sports car has gotten outrageous.
Not only does the Corvette have signficantly more engineering dollars and devlopment than it used to, the Corvette has slowly moved upmarket especially since the introduction of the C6 Z06. The C8 will continue this trend.

The Camaro V8 models now occupy the price and performance range of the previous Corvette models.
