Yea, the whole place is a rip-off, but that's the way it goes.
One of the native tribe own the entire West Rim. You can't drive out to the Canyon with your own car, they make you park your car in this parking lot and you have to buy a bus ticket. There is a Skywalk which cost an extra $30 to go on but you can't take any pictures because they said people were dropping their cameras into the canyon and on the glass floor.
We bought a package deal for $215 per person. It included the helicopter ride, a platoon boat ride and that bus ride to the canyon. You can't get to the river unless you get on the helicopter, so I think it was worth it. Also, it was our first helicopter ride!
