Speak to the guys at Brisbane BMW Body shop. I have a friend who reciently got a new rear bar installed on his car as a someone evers so slightly tapped the back of his M-sport coupe. Didn't scratch the paint but as the bar was pushed in, it made a small crease in the bumper which was hardly visable. Insurance replaced the bar but I'm sure it could have been repaired. You never know ... if they still have it there, they might do you a good deal to repair and paint it up.
