From BMW's perspective, I feel that the more Autonomous and interlinked the modules within the vehicle are, they're probably no longer wanting to allow risks for lawsuits. I could just see someone trying to code full hands off steering wheel, or other things that may interfere with the 'autonomous' bits. Even something as simple as coding additional 'blinks' could possibly have an effect on the hands free lane change possibly. Just my thoughts...lets just think about the interesting Tesla videos with folks playing cards instead of driving
