My previous software release was mid 2020.
I updated all modules except ecu motor and idrive android.
For idrive estimated time was 8 hrs,so I skipped and wll be done soon.

When performing updates is mandatory battery tender 13V to avoid any battery drops!!
Of course it makes sense NOT to update the ECU in that case else the flashtune will be erased. IDrive/HU usually takes the longest but 8 hours is a lot. Indeed voltage there is super important. I have a charger with a power supply unit and works great maintaining the recommended minimum voltage at a stable 13V. However if the flashing session is going to be longer than 10 minutes, it is advised to set it higher (13.5 V) during programming as this is safer considering the battery may not be fully charged
Yes,charger is very important.
During the last session mine was 12.9-13 V.
