I actually traded my Z4 M40i for an 840d after 10 months. Bought this as an ex-demo for about the same price as the Z4 cost when it was new.
I didn't think the 40i engine would work in the 8. Too much weight and RWD only. The diesel works well as it's XDrive and has loads of torque. M850i obviously better still but means spending quite a bit extra.
