Interesting.

I drove a Cadillac recently. Closing the car door reminds me of a 70s - 80s vintage Mercedes. The platform is bank-vault solid.

The driving dynamics of the Cadillac are noticeably superior to German anything, aside from Porsche.

My last F-series loaner car reminded me of my father's old Buick in size and driving dynamics.

Funny, I was a fan of BMW when the Roundel wasn't a status symbol. In fact, I had to explain to others why I chose the quirky, unknown German car. The sad irony is I would be embarrassed driving a current Bimmer, not the Cadillac. If we include high-performance on track, it isn't close.

Case closed.
I drove an e92 335i before my 340i and I don't feel embarrassed. In fact it's better in every aspect but steering imo.

But then again maybe I would have the same opinion if the only f30 I drove was a base suspension 320i or 330i
