As of November 2013, the Forbes ongoing "World's Most Valuable Brands" list ranks BMW as #11 to Mercedes-Benz at #16.

In fact, the only way in which I can find Mercedes-Benz "ahead" of BMW in any significant metric of being a "powerful luxury car brand" is if we look only at United States sales...
