Dont quit your day jobs. Sure glad some of you guys are NOT designers.
Well, of course the professional, retouched pictures will look better - but that's not the point. The rear end viewpoint (as posted by the OP) is one that the average person might actually see - not one that's staged.

And it looks like Oprah and Roseanne sat on it. At the same time. Hint, this is not a good result.

Can everybody a slow down about Bangle rolling around laughing. Geez, for the record, E60 M5 was a bangle design and to this day that is a gorgeous car, other stuff perhaps not, definitely not the 7 series of the time.

Every generation and series has its hits and misses. The downside is that BMW and many other manufactures have to design cars that meet United States, Asia, European regulations, and more not mentioned I'm sure. Cant make mass production specifically for every person. Hell, most people cant agree on dinner with their spouse, and your asking many different peoples opinions when designing a car.

I will say that yes these are kinda crappy photos, which is weird in the first place considering all technology and photo spying crap you can buy these days and still get a damn good image. This is like 2005 Flip phone image, THEN screenshot on a low resolution, and then sent.

More than likely when the 8 series is revealed, BMW will quickly release a Competition or something of that nature that has revised parts and design after all the bitching.

BMW: The chrome needs to go!! It's not the 80's/early 90's anymore. The kidneys also need to be a little smaller. ///M kidneys will be a must for this car. I bet the rear looks better than this photo. And white is the wrong color for this car.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the few observable flaws can be addressed with ///M goodies.

I still have hope for the exterior... the interior however I feel is a design that been done over and over again. I feel like the Ford Edge or fusion had a similar center stack, too lazy to find pics. And all the black plastic is exactly what I hate about the Cadillac interiors

Granted its just two photos, it looks to be pretty disappointing.

BMW styling has lost its way. Oversize grills coupled with over-stylized bumpers, is never a winning formula - yet the countless design professionals at bmw seem to think otherwise.

Its pretty amazing to think that a company with such enormous finance resources, can’t manage to put forth something that is clean, aggressive and ultimately timeless - particularly given that this will be the flagship.

The last truly striking design (IMO) was the 6 GC.

They can put something out thats clean, aggressive and timeless...Thats what the 8 series concept was. They chose to give us a 2 door 5 series instead and probably charge more than the 7 series for it.

Agreed on the 6GC...it's one of BMW's great designs.

Fair point. The concept was definitely more compelling.

S63 coupe or a pre-owned Conti GT seem like viable options to me.

Good Lord! Who in their right mind at BMW thought this could compete with the S Coupe? And I'm talking about both the exterior AND the interior. It's even more sad to think about the fact that the S Coupe is already halfway through its lifecycle with the recent facelift (fantastic use of LED taillights on the facelift - I saw it at the LA Auto Show and it was very cool).

I drive a 2013 BMW M3 Convertible and I don't want to let go of it thanks to its NA engine and amazing sound. While my last 4 cars have all been M cars, I have to say that BMW somehow continues to keep disappointing us year after year. I'm holding on to my current car for as long as possible because if I have to move to something else it's almost certainly going to be a Porsche or MB. I honestly don't understand how BMW expects to compete with either of those brands with its current lineup across most vehicle types (granted not all - X3 and X5 are ok and I know some like the X6).

All I can say is I REALLY hope BMW does some kind of a 180 in the next 1-3 years or it will be a sad day for me when I switch to a different brand for the first time since 2002...

Bangle certainly was not the man either, when you doubt, just look once more on how the E65 mutant baby came to live. But I guess the executive committee of BMW is still traumatised by that experience and still suffers from cognitive dissonance.

They also see some weird turds being presented on the board meetings as the new announced halo cars, but don't translate their revulsion to actions... yet. For too many years now.
Christopher Bangle is a highly regarded master of design regardless of your dismal view of the world.

I cant believe people look at a distorted image and make conclusions about the product based on that. Clearly as is shown by fiftee50 the corrected angle view is much more appealing

Watering down the wow

Yet another beautiful concept watered down to ordinary.

Come on guys? Where has your passion gone to too? Give us the striking designs that brand deserves.

Whoever designed and approved this is a thing, they're brain-dead. I lost my enthusiasm for BMW right after I saw the new X7 and now this piece of trash. Been a good 15 years BMW. Time to advance into a Porsche enthusiast. Salute

Do you really think this is a leak as BMW allows these photos to get out. Its like seeing "spy shoots" of preproduction BMW's driving on public roads really.

Are you really throwing your toys out of your cot just because BMW designs vehicles you don't like. You sound like a client for VW group on companies.
