Where else would it be? I mean, at least for a four seat coupe, you have to have somewhere to put the back seat.

Itīs not a 911 competitor, itīs going against the MB high end coupe, and the Maserati and Aston.

I have yet to drive the new turbocharged Porsches, but, my e92 M3 sure did give me the experience of one.

What BMW really needs is a well designed two seater (or a 2+2)... to my eyes they've never been good at sports car design. They need to get the Italians in to design the next Z4 for them!!

Looks disappointing for a flagship coupe. Not a Mercedes fan, but, they have had the SL forever and it looks better than this elongated abomination.

Actually the SL is Merc's flagship roadster. Their flagship coupe is the S-class which this car will be competing with. I have an SL63 and I'm considering the M8 convertible as a replacement for both my SL and 6 series. I hate soft tops but if the car is good enough I'm willing to give it a try.

I believe the original source of the information is this AutoExpress article:
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/bmw/6-s...sche-911-rival It has subsequently been reported upon by nearly every major online automotive publication, and although it is nothing more than rumor, it seems to be particularly pesky in rearing its head in discussion forums as if it were fact. To date, no test vehicles have been spotted in any form, and no inside information confirms the existence of such a vehicle program. The story is more wishful thinking and grandiose delusion than anything else, and the car remains complete vaporware. |

As I'm sure you've seen, there have been a number of threads recently bemoaning the rebranding of the 6 Series. Its changing from what many believe is one of best looking cars from BMW in recent history to the next GT wagon thing currently know as the 5GT.
I think a lot of us wanted the new 6 to be a 911-esque type of vehicle but nothing has indicated this is forth coming, aside from speculative magazine articles. Time will tell and I'm sure I'm not alone in hoping the 6er becomes the animal it should be. |
