The M8 better be good..this thing will probably look pretty damn nice..and with AMG's TTV8 it'll will be no joke, if they sit in the same price bracket that is.

The 8 concept clearly had this in the looks department..let's see how the production car turns out. I don't like the DB11 but this is clearly a revised DB10, which IMO looks great.

I'm actually the opposite. I always think the rear ends and lines look worse on a 4-door.

it looks like a giant spaceship. from the sideview the cockpit area is like almost placed in the middle of the front and rear axle. looks strange. very far from the concept

Bring it on. Funny how many of the cars in the background are BMW's! The petrol station has 2 filling up!

The proportions of this car are the closest thing offered thus far to Giselle Bundchen. Long and sleek, athletic. If I had a 7 figure income I'd want to have it in my garage. Deflation would not be involved. I'd give it all the pressure it demanded on the jam, front and rear. You've got to keep everything mechanical satisfied in the off season, after all.

The fastback tail definitely echoes the DBx cars in side profile-not a bad thing at all. However, the lateral tuck is much narrower in the Astons. The 8er seems to still have a bit more junk in the trunk across it's aft most width of the tail and window line. I suspect I'll be quite distracted once the finally land on our lot next year.

Thank you. And in addition to that, any exclusivity that the 6 series had was thrown out the window when they came up with a sedan version. I hope the upcoming 8 series isn't bastardized in the same way but I'll wait and see if there's a sedan version coming before deciding to buy the coupe this time around.

This is basically another 6 series but slap an 8 series badge on it and now BMW can charge more for it. The 850i is probably going to start at $115k

We've seen the 8 Series prototypes on numerous occasions over the summer, but never have the coupe and cabriolet versions stood together like this.

No, we're not talking about one having a fabric roof, though some speculative reports claimed it's a folding hardtop under camouflage. No, even though the models use the same powertrain, one has the M Sport package with blue brakes and some familiar-looking special-order wheels.

Which powertrain are we talking about? Well, it's hard to say at this moment. But the majority of 6 Series models sold as 640i, 640d or 650i. We don't see any reason why that should change.

It's a well-known fact that the original 8 Series never spawned a convertible, though BMW did make one prototype. Also, it didn't have as large a grille as these two prototypes boast. But if you're looking to spend around $150,000 on a new car, the understated design probably isn't your primary priority.

What separates this from the S-Class rival? Probably the same thing that separates the 7 Series from an S-Class sedan: a typical BMW interior and the promise of keen driving.

Also, the 8 Series can bank on its heritage, with a little bit of carbon fiber and silly gesture controls added for good measure. But we have a sneaking suspicion Mercedes will also revive an old nameplate, the SEC. My god that thing was pretty!

Anyway, BMW has made some patent filings which are relevant here. They include “850,” “860,” and “M850.” That suggests a V12 will be available. Will there be an 850d with a quad-turbo engine? Probably, though plug-in hybrids and even a base 2-liter are being discussed internally.

The M8 has been confirmed and might have as much as 650 HP going to all four wheels. Production of the 8-Series range will take place at BMW’s main plant in Dingolfing, Germany. Expect a full reveal during the second half of 2018.

If I didn't already know that the new ///M8 Coupe was going to drop hard in value once I drive it off the showroom floor, I'd get this car definitely.

But on paper it's a difficult choice perhaps.

2019 M8 Coupe:

+ AWD M xDrive System
+ 600hp
-- ZF 8spd Auto
+ Good utility
++ Best looking out of all current BMW's
- Big chassis
--- Heavy Chassis: ~4,200lbs
++ Loads of Tech
---- With options: ~$150,000 USD

Versus:

2019 Aston Martin Vantage
+ RWD
+++ Killer Looks
-- Not much utility
++++ 7 Speed Manual Transmission Option
+++ Exceptional light curb weight: ~3,300lbs
-/+ Small Chassis
- Average Tech
+ Tuned AMG Engine by Aston Martin with 500hp
- With options: ~$160,000 USD

The Aston will definitely do much better in retaining value if both cars are driven the same mileage per year. Oh well, Aston it is then.

And the M8 GC will have a thought time with the AMG GT 4 and RS7.
