Now I feel bad that this design is available only to big pockets. I can buy a such car and love it to death since I do love the design, yet might be too much car for my needs.

If BMW will have similar designs on all models (with the all necessary particularities) will blow the competition away.
Yet, I am afraid that they will water it down or screw something somewhere.

Love this design
So, you see, it can be done with taste and without terrible eye disrupting hood lines or awkward stretched headlamps.

A similar design language on 3,5 series will be a winner.

The rear, though! That is my only complain.

I loved the design a few days ago. But now I'm starting to hate it. From the quarter view, it looks like a Mustang. From the rear, it looks like a CLS

I can see a Limited Edition M8 GC tipping $200k. The M6 Competition was $150k. The G90 is only $102k starting. So I'm betting it'll simply be a $10k premium over the G90 M5. With fully loaded options it'll get up to $150k.

The $200k level buys you into a lot of other better cars though. Porsche's new Panamera Turbo E-Hybrid tips in at $200k.

Don't forget all the technology that is going to filter down from the M8 GTE like the transaxle, hopefully more lightweight materials...
Also, the standard 8er is already supposed to get a price bump over the outgoing 6er, which is itself in 7er price territory, meaning significantly more than a 5er at equal engine. The same price delta should logically apply to M8 versus M5, certainly more like $30,000 than $10,000.
Finally, they do say in the presentation video* that the M8 GC is going to be the most expensive BMW, meaning more expensive than the $155,000 M760i.

*Edit: they don't, those were actually Scott26's words.

wow thanks for this. Didn't notice that comment.

It's odd to me though. I get that the M8 GTE's trickle down technology ultimately costs money to develop, but to me this is just a rebranded 6er GC. There's nothing wrong with BMW charging more for it, but $30k premium better be for a lot more stuff the G90 M5 won't have. If that's the case, I'm okay with it, and it really is true product differentiation.

Today, the F06 M6's ONLY improvement over the F10 M5 is the carbon roof.

My bad, the last bit of my comment was actually a quote from Scott26, not from the video presentation, but from all the other info we've got we can safely bet it will indeed be more expensive than the M760i.

The new grille looks great on this car, and I can appreciate the throw-back to the older era BMWs where the kidneys used to touch just like that. Very gutsy way to mesh old-school BMW with futuristic design. The only reservation I have is that it might not look like a BMW at all once you black out the grille completely, sort of how the new 5-series front end isn't even recognizable as a BMW to me upon first glance when it doesn't have chrome kidney surrounds. Then again, the 8-series has that sweet M8 GTE-inspired kidney shape with the sharp angle on the ends, which basically gives it a completely different and more aggressive look to begin with. It might look good blacked out, instead of like a "peanut" on the 5er. We shall see! The quad tailpipes also look a tad busy to me for that otherwise gorgeous rear end, but overall the car is clearly going to look stunning!

Great job BMW!

I liked the earlier pics of the coupe but this GC looks too much like a Tesla from the rear. I'm not a fan at all and might need to hang on to the F13 after all.

The rear corner looks like its been in an accident
Dented

What is that xolor exactly? Anyone know?

And is it orderable as an individual color on other BMWs?

Hopefully soon
