This is how things work with cars I am familiar with. Typically there are 2 sets of O2 sensors. One set in front of the cats (closer to the engine) and a second set behind the cats (farther from the engine). The front sensors send info to the ECU that is used to control the engine. The second set merely monitors airflow to make sure the cats are on and functioning properly. If you put the rear O2s where the fronts go then yes, that will cause problems because the ECU won't get the readings it needs to control the engine properly. That could explain the issues you are having. I am not sure how it works with Bimmers but you can swap the fronts and rears from side to side on Domestics. However you can't swap the fronts for the rears.

Did u check if ur o2 sensors are connected back correctly. Sometimes they can get mixed up from left to right so just recheck. Thx

I just went back and watched my video and was able to identify that my o2 sensors were correct but look like this. Can you tell if they need replaced just by looking at them?

I’ve attached images. These are just the top ones (upstream I’m assuming)

It’s not possible to tell from this. You just need to follow the wire and to see if that helps. Also normally with incorrect o2 sensor install you will have bunch of codes as well I think.

Exactly this, you would have lights and codes all over the place if they are incorrect or not working.

if you had misfire errors, then you need to dig towards 0.019 spark plugs and aftermarket coils. the first thing to do is to put the original plugs. 0.019 is very small, such a gap is needed if you plan to use it on a full e85. I quess you are not going to. then put back your oem spark plugs and coils. the tightening torque of the plugs must be 21-23nm, this is very important.

also on your screenshot there is an error about incorrect coding of the engine control unit. it happens that bm3 does not correctly select software for the engine, more often than we would like. I can fix it remotely.

Hello. Thank you for your response. So I have a ton of errors I was able to find last night with my autel diagnostics machine. You hit the nail on the head but it seems everything I did is causing issues. I’d love to pay someone for help at this point. Can I email you my errors?

Well I thank everyone who responded as I think everyone was right in some way. Wish I would’ve just left it alone.

More info / More issues

So a few more notes: I had to refill the coolant. I used what's supposed to be an OEM Quality, but maybe that's why the car is now reporting running extremely hot. I've also attached all diag reports from my Autel diag device. Seems like everything I did is problematic....I guess buying OEM coil packs and OEM spark plugs is a good start? Quite embarrassing after viewing these reports it seems like i did nothing correctly. Unfortunately, i took a lot of recommendations from performance sites online.

if you're talking about "hot engine" on the center display, it's just a warning because you've opened the hood. BMW doesn't want you to get hurt and sue them=)

The Autel has a report function. there will be a general list of modules and errors with status active or stored. can you post it here without the vin number?

yes, it is
this report clearly shows that you have permanent misfires in at least 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 cylinders. you first need to put back the oem coil and spark plugs, put the engine together correctly, delete errors and check how engine is working

May be its not firing on all 8 . Test each cylinder . There is a tool I guess. To me it's an electrical issue .. sometimes disconnecting the battery and re connecting after a few minutes can reset .
Is the N63 and S63 ecu cracked for flash tunes yet ???

So you don’t see it needing new plugs at all chasing the highest yet safest HP Flash? Almost every where I read that was one of the first things done along with downpipe and intake. I just now purchased all new OEM plugs and Coil Packs for $700. The originals were damaged during removal and thrown out. The $600 in aftermarket I guess will just be thrown out now to.

OEM coils are great. but you should change the spark plugs and set the gap to 0.023 if they are over 10,000-12,000 miles. this is necessary so that the boost does not blow off the spark

Fantastic. Just my suggestion, why not just enjoy your car for what it is, before opening this can of worms again.

Enjoy!

I enjoy modding. I should’ve known when it comes to bmw though. Whole different beast.
